In 2013, forward-thinking healthcare organizations will find a need to navigate toward two horizons: the evolving Meaningful Use (MU) requirements and the requirements for Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). This presentation will provide a summary of the current status of ACO formations and an overview of the recently-released Stage 2 MU objectives. Those objectives will be framed against a set of success factors that will define successful ACOs and also against the pending Medicare hold-back incentive related to patient satisfaction scores and the pending Medicare penalty for excessive readmission rates.
Webinar participants will be offered a roadmap and tools for evaluating specific high-return initiatives that will ensure that MU objectives are met, while best positioning an organization to deliver patient-centered care in a manner that will characterize effective ACOs. The performance improvement initiatives from several progressive organizations will be presented and may serve as a guide for creating a "meaningful care organization."
By the end of this webinar participants will be able to:
Review the current state of accountable care organization (ACO) formation
Describe at a high level the Stage 1 and Stage 2 meaningful use (MU) requirements
Analyze those Stage 2 MU requirements that may be most supportive of the initiatives that will ensure success of the ACO
Evaluate approaches to developing patient-centered strategies that are supportive of both ACO and MU objectives
